Fire on Singapore-Flagged Vessel MV Wan Hai 503: 18 Crew Rescued, 4 Still Missing

Kochi: A massive firefighting and rescue operation is currently underway after a fire broke out on board the Singapore-flagged container vessel MV Wan Hai 503, approximately 130 nautical miles northwest of Kochi. The Indian Coast Guard has deployed multiple ships and aircraft to assist in extinguishing the blaze and rescuing the crew.

 

 

So far, 18 crew members have been safely rescued, while 4 remain missing. Search operations are in full swing to locate them. Thick smoke continues to rise from the vessel, raising concerns about potential secondary explosions.

 

 

The incident has been reported to the Singapore Flag Administration and the Directorate General of Shipping, India. Environmental protection measures have also been initiated to mitigate any risk to the marine ecosystem.

 

 

Authorities have stated that the situation remains critical, and all efforts are being made to stabilize the vessel and ensure the safety of the remaining crew members.
