Guwahati, October 25.
The Brahmaputra often described as the lifeline of Assam’s identity and culture once again flowed through the stream of creativity. The mobile short video contest “Voices Through the Lenses,” organized by Care Luit in collaboration with the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI), gave young storytellers a chance to narrate the river’s tale through their own lens.

Themed Echoes of the Brahmaputra Stories Flowing Through Time and Tide, the competition saw enthusiastic participation from across various districts of Assam. Some participants captured the simplicity of life along the riverbanks, while others delved into the emotional currents hidden beneath its ever-changing flow.

The jury panel included acclaimed filmmaker Parvez Ahmed and Gayatri Sharma, Chairperson of the Guwahati Theatre Society. From dozens of entries, they selected the most compelling creations that beautifully portrayed the river’s essence.

According to a spokesperson for Care Luit,

The objective of this contest is to bring together voices of sustainability, culture, and community. By using mobile phones a simple yet powerful storytelling medium we aim to make these untold stories of the Brahmaputra accessible to everyone.

Founded in 2007, Care Luit is a Guwahati-based non-profit organization working for sustainable development, art and culture, flood management, environmental conservation, and heritage preservation in Assam. The organization collaborates with artists, educators, researchers, and local communities to promote social and environmental awareness.

The Voices Through the Lenses contest reaffirmed that art is not merely a form of expression but also a powerful bridge connecting society and nature and that the Brahmaputra continues to flow as the living soul of Assam, carrying countless stories within its waves.
